 "பெருந்தலைவர் காமராஜர் காலை உணவு திட்டம்" Scheme renamed: The Tamil Nadu Government has officially renamed the "Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme" as "பெருந்தலைவர் காமராஜர் காலை உணவு திட்டம்" (Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme), honouring former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj, who pioneered school meal initiatives in Tamil Nadu.  Scheme expansion: The government has also announced the expansion of the breakfast programme to include students of Classes 6 to 8 in a phased manner, covering both government and aided schools.  Background : The breakfast scheme was originally launched in September 2022 to provide free nutritious breakfast on all school working days for primary school children studying in government schools. It has since been expanded to more schools over time.  This renaming is intended to recognize Perunthalaivar K. Kamaraj's lasting contribution to school education and student welfare in Tamil Nadu.
